Meet the Dispute Resolution Service Providers: FORUM

Domain Times would like to tell you about the providers of arbitration services for domain name disputes.

As you know, if you have a domain name claim, you can file your claim with any of the providers approved by ICANN.

Today, here is a note on FORUM, another prolific Dispute Resolution Service Provider for domain dispute matters.

When we asked FORUM to describe their services for sharing on this website, they told us:

'FORUM, or, as it was known previously, the National Arbitration Forum, is a vigorous domain name disputes resolution center in Minneapolis.

Being based there, it naturally handles many domain name cases that come from the United States. However, it is truly international and many of its cases originate in other countries. Its decisions are highly regarded and are frequently cited in current proceedings.

FORUM has been administering domain name dispute proceedings since 1999 and is one of the two largest global administrators of domain name dispute by case volume. FORUM maintains a high-quality roster of experienced domain name panelists from around the world, and is known for the speed and efficiency of its case administration services, with UDRP cases averaging only 31 days from case commencement to decision.

FORUM’s experienced case managers provide expert customer service for parties and its proprietary technology includes efficient case filing and case management portals. FORUM panelists benefit from their own custom portal that integrates domain name case law research and online decision building to maximize decision quality and accuracy.

While most domain name cases are trademark disputes resolved under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), FORUM also resolves disputes under many similar policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for generic top-level domains (gTLDs).

In addition, many gTLD registries and country-code top level domains (ccTLDs) have adopted specific practices and requirements that may be followed using FORUM's dispute resolution services. FORUM handles disputes for any ccTLD that has adopted the UDRP, and some policies for countries that have adopted other similar policies, including the United States (usTLD).

In order to learn more, or to file a claim under the appropriate policy, visit FORUM’s website at https://www.adrforum.com/domain-dispute/resources.'

The Hon'ble Neil Brown KC has often been a Panelist and Arbitrator for matters that come before FORUM. The decisions passed by him on such matters can be read on this website.
